For GNOME, move between workspaces with Ctrl+Alt+Up or Down and move the active window with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+Up or Down. This feature is also available through the activities page. The workspace menu is displayed on the right, and you can use the mouse to drag windows into any you want.

The Auto Move Windows extension can also open any software in a predefined workspace.
